When these first came out, I thought they were terrific -- but after using them on several dogs, I discovered they cut/tear too much of the top coat/guard hairs that most people want to keep. I also found it a little rough on my dog's skin. Since then, I've discovered the Oster Wide 18-tooth rake which is phenomenal. VERY gentle on the skin and it pulls the undercoat easily without cutting or tearing. The Oster rake has been much more effective for easily removing huge amounts of undercoat quite easily.
