This brush is great! Our golden retriever had an overgrowth of her undercoat that covered her legs and shoulders in fluffy, downy fur. It looked horrible and everyone always asked us what was wrong with her. We tried other brushes and nothing made a difference. After the vet looked at her and made sure the overgrowth wasn't a health issue, she mentioned that the Furminator might work to remove the excess fluff. We ordered one right away and now our dog is back to looking like a normal golden and friends have commented that her coat is much shinier overall as well! Some reviewers have said that the brush ripped or cut their dog's coat, but we did not find that to be the case at all. Out dog has very long hair and it did not damage the outer layers of hair at all, just pulled out all the dead hair and undercoat.
