Order FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge

Our dog Finley is a 100lb Golden Retriever / Bernese Mountain Dog mix. His black coat is so thick people always think he is a Newfoundland, but his head is all golden. Anyway, he sheds. A. lot. We bought a Roomba 540 to help out in our war against the dog fur, and it fills up its bin every single day with great big wads of black fur. We love the Roomba, but we knew it wouldn't last long against this kind of onslaught. So we looked up the FURminator, saw the overwhelmingly positive reviews and ordered it on the spot (under $20!! Heck Yeah!) Well it arrived last night, so we immediately tried it out. We had always used a slicker brush with Finley to try to head off the fur problem, and we would get a couple handfuls of dead hair every couple of days. In fact we brushed him the night before. So I wasn't sure what to expect when I tried the FURminator on him. Holy buckets!! After brushing him for about three minutes I had enough fur off that dog to fill up a paper grocery bag. It came off in wave after wave just like in the videos. I had NO IDEA there was that much fur just along for the ride in his coat. As other reviewers have said, this does generate a ton of static electricity, which when mixed with loose dog hair equals something similar to furry napalm without all the fire. When I finished I had to FURminate myself (and the carpet) to get it all off. I'll definitely do this in the garage next time. After looking closely at the "tines" I can see why this thing works. It's basically just a comb, except the tines are all triangular, so as you pull it through the hair, loose fur gets caught in the V shaped space, kind of like pulling a nail with a claw hammer. Very simple and very effective. Now I'm looking forward to seeing if this has an impact on how much fur the Roomba has to deal with daily (also looking forward to dinner without dog hair in it.) I'll give it a few days (weeks?) and update. Get more detail about FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge.
