Finding a brush that will "get into" the tight smooth hair on my Pug puppy has been a challenge. After purchasing three other brushes including a mitt type, that all just skimmed over the top and didn't comb/brush the hair I purchased the Small Blue FURminator. At first I didn't like it because using this brush is different than using a regular brush. I found that taking smaller strokes in the direction the hair grows brought results. Apply gentle pressure, using this brush is more time consuming, but it does remove the hair a little at a time and when finished the hair is very soft compared to the tight wiry texture of my Pug at the beginning of the grooming. I have also found it is necessary with my puppy to brush her several time a week to keep her almost shed free.
