The Furminator has made my life incredibly easier. I have a short-haired Red Heeler mutt who sheds an absolutely ridiculous amount of fur. RIDICULOUS. It was affecting my relationship with my slightly-OCD man, b/c although we brushed him daily, swept 4Xweek, and changed the air filters regularly, it felt like I was trying to grow a carpet for my hardwood floors.
Then my sister let me borrow her Furminator. The beast weighs about 40 lbs...very lanky and athletic. The first treatment, I pulled off about two cups of fur. That's 16 ounces by volume. To put it in perspective, that is bigger than a can of soda (by 1/3). So the next day I tried again and pulled off about 1 cup. He really looked like he lost weight.
I promptly bought this one from Amazon.
It has been about a month now since the Furminator blessed my life. I sweep twice a week instead of four times. When the beast shakes or people give him a good scratch-down, little furballs don't erupt from his coat. Although the "Cedar" microfiber dusting mop helps (from Target, but there are tons on the market), I give the ol' Furminator a lot of credit for my new ability to walk around in socks without looking like Big Foot.
I Furminate him almost every day, and I still usually pull off about 1/4 cup of fur if I really get into it. That's 1/4 cup of fur we don't have sticking to our clothes or hiding under the couch. I've already given one of these away, and I plan to give more.
