My dog has short hair, some wire-hair and some with an undercoat (he's a mutt). The furminator really does work amazingly well on his coat. It takes out hairs shedding from the undercoat really well. I couldn't believe he even shed that much. It is not great on legs or other tricky spots because it obviously isn't flexible at all since it has a metal comb, so for short hair on legs, face, ears etc it really wouldn't be the right tool but for the body it is great.
